History

Givenchy is a French brand of clothing, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics with Parfums Givenchy. The house of Givenchy was founded in 1952 by designer Hubert de Givenchy and is a member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture et du Pret-a-Porter. It is owned by luxury goods behemoth LVMH and in 1993 achieved a total sales worth of $176 million, making it the second largest apparel division of LVMH after Dior. During Hubert de Givenchy's managing of the label, he became famous for his modern, ladylike styles. Some of the considered best dressed women in the world have been Givenchy's wearers - Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall, Babe Paley, Greta Garbo, Elizabeth Taylor, Marlene Dietrich, Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, Princess Grace of Monaco and Wallis Simpson. Audrey Hepburn was probably his best ambassador. She wore his dresses out and on screen in films such as Sabrina, How to Steal a Million and Breakfast at Tiffany's. In 1952, Hubert de Givenchy founded his own label. In 1953, he met Audrey Hepburn his muse and ambassador and Cristobal Balenciaga whom he always considered his master and influence. This influence is evident in the designer's taste for structured minimalist clothing. In 1954, Givenchy was the first designer to present a luxury collection of women's pret-a-porter. In 1973, Givenchy started his own line of menswear "Gentleman Givenchy".

The color palette ranges from black to nude including shades of grey and brown. From curved metal to pyramidal hinges, new and refined details are introduced to further distinguish the new structures. A small metal teardrop detail is inserted in the temple tips of all of the sunglass models.
